We have just updated a list of brokers offering American ETFs. We now also take PhillipCapital into account for our current ranking. PhillipCapital is located in Singapore but serves all adults who are non-US people. Service is provided via the POEMS platform which is owned by Phillip Securities Pte Ltd (a member of PhillipCapital).
PhillipCapital offers a lot more than American ETFs and stocks. This broker lets you connect to 26 stock exchanges and operate based on 10 currencies (USD, EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, AUD, CNY, HKD, SGD, MYR). There are not many (if any) competitors that let you access markets in the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Turkey, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam from a single account when you live in Europe. However, trading on many of them is only possible when assisted by broker employees. Luckily, you can trade fully online on American markets via the POEMS platform.
This broker is quite expensive if you only take into account American ETFs. However, its fee for such trades is flat. This means that it matters less and less when the value of your orders goes up. Moreover, PhillipCapital offers 3 tiers (Starter, Premier, Privileged). In short, the more all your assets are worth, the lower the fee. Unfortunately, PhillipCapital also charges a custody fee per counter. But it may be waived in case you trade a few times a month.
Does it mean that PhillipCapital is now the best broker offering American ETFs?
No! When choosing a broker, you should take into account your individual needs. PhillipCapital comes with some advantages but is not the best choice for all scenarios. It is not the cheapest but it also offers access to many other markets than the US.
